Amazing architecture olympic stadium by Herzog & DeMeuron
November 8th, 2008 - Posted in Architectural renderings, Modern architecture, Unique architectureFinally images have appeared in the Olympic stadium by Herzog & DeMeuron next to the China Architecture Design Institute. If you looked at the render complex construct, in reality the method is very conventional.
The building covers an area of 204,100 m2, is covered with a transparent membrane and a retractable roof. In the photos you can clearly see the grid as it is a (metal) is a structure totally independent of the interior (concrete). This coating has made the stadium is known as “Bird Nest” (Bird’s Nest) and is inserted into the large amount of work to the Chinese city doing this for the upcoming 2008 Olympics.
Beijing is also building the National Swimming Center, known as “Water Cube” (Water Cube) and the National Theater, known as “Eggshell”. The first was designed by PTW and Ove Arup Engineering along with the CSCEC (China State Construction and Engineering Corporation) and the CSCEC Shenzhen Design Institute, while the second is the work of French architect Paul Andreu.
Looking at the current scene, especially cases such as Beijing, listed the following questions. What happens to a city where the most important buildings are designed by foreign architects? Are you missing your identity? Do I need to always participate in local architectural projects?
