November 9th, 2008 - Posted in Green architecture, Unique architectureAs a solution from a catastrophic event such as the earthquake that shook China in May last, the emerging “folded bamboo houses Paper + house” (housing + folding paper) designed by Ming Tang.
Following the request of the Chinese Government to build 1.5 million temporary dwellings for those affected after the disaster, Ming Tang suggested this innovative design features that point to the ease of production, low cost and abundant material. Proposed bamboo, these temporary shelters are linear structures with an angular geometry that allows them to arm and disarm quickly and easily to be transported to places. Once armed structure, these bamboos are coated papers with recycled fibers and other materials enclosures.
Draws attention within the proposed Ming Tang utilization of bamboo, a material in the occasional bit architecture but with some interesting structural qualities for their lightness and strength, in addition to its known environmental benefits because it abundant and is a kind of rapid growth.
