With a quintessential beach house the call of the client brief, this home evolved from a palette of driftwood colors and textures, a neutrality to be punctuated by the addition of colorful beach towel and grandchildren toys. Economic constrains saw indoor and outdoor living space take priority over sleeping space, and light and openness favored over size and materials. The focal point of the home rests on the tall open-plan living space and its large northern opening. This provides a seamless connection to the covered outdoor living space and adjacent swimming pool.Above double-height entry space, a glazed bridge provides access to the parents retreat and link to additional bedrooms. Skillion roofs tilt dynamically to protect against the western sun.
