Located in the SOHO Cast Iron District of Manhattan, Glimmer. Glass is an initial study for a new 47,500 sqft loft building and showroom for stroller manufacturer Maclaren. A black steel Beam frame conforms to the proportional divisions of the existing Cast Iron District, while behind a cascading façade of chrome and glass produce a glimmering “mash-up” of the surrounding urban landscape. Slatted steel grate balconies allow one to occupy the interstitial space between glass and frame. This is an homage to the famed metal fire escapes of SOHO which allow one to seemingly float above the sidewalk and street.
